But the larger question is, should we be intentionally mixing with Harry Potter? Isn't using the books and films as a recruitment tool for a Pagan-run organization exactly what intolerant Christians blast J.K. Rowling for all the time? Isn't it a bit unseemly to hijack an author's work in order to make money for your own organization?

The Wildhunt Blog has an interesting post concering the question of Pagan mixing with Harry Potter. With the latest film now hitting theaters, the post notes that Pagans have taken different postures concerning Potter, with some eschewing any connection and others drawing upon the interest and success of Potter as a tool for promoting Pagan interests. If fund raising is the point then I would probably agree.... raised interest does not necessarily lead to more cash though, as a Christian I have used issues raised in the H.P. books and films as conversation starters and in discussion groups- but these have cost rather than made money!
I am encouraged to the Pagan community engaging with this type of question- in a sense it gives us a place of common ground.
